The long, dark night that’s been our economy for the last four years seems finally to be seeing some light. First time unemployment claims dropped to the lowest level in four years and here at The Advantaged we’re seeing many familiar faces return for yacht charters, including a few we haven’t seen in quite a while. Families are heading out again on vacation and, this year, more of them are opting for a vacation on the water.
The National Marine Bankers Association is seeing a surge in loan applications for yachts and large power boats and marine brokers are reporting more interest in high end yacht inventory than they’ve seen in years. Most are reporting that they have almost completely worked through their inventory of older boats and are seeing increased interest in newer models.
Our experience here at The Advantaged mirrors the upswing in the rest of the industry. Over on the sales side of the office we’re seeing short sales, common just a couple years ago, are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Our yacht sales division is starting off with a bang this year, with the sales team posting three offers in the first three weeks of the year! Based on the level of interest and amount of traffic we’re seeing, the sales team is on track for a banner year.
It’s an exciting time here at The Advantaged; the weather has been absolutely fabulous this year and we’re filling our available charter slots faster than ever! Our bookings for yacht charters are up over 30 percent from the same time last year. We’ve also had more customers opting for activity extras like snorkeling and jet ski trips.
If you’re considering a yacht charter this year, we would advise booking as early as possible. We haven’t had to turn anyone away yet, but only because we have one of the biggest inventories of luxury yacht charters anywhere in the Miami area. More than once we’ve had to use our clout in the local market to pull some strings for our regular customers when inventory was tight.
This is one of those rare years where everything comes together for a vacation on the water. The economy is on the mend, but fuel prices have remained relatively tame. The weather has been better than any of the last three years, the water quality for diving has been fantastic and our customers have been raving about how much they enjoyed their time on the water.
